Here's some of what's going on in and around KPFT:

Pearland Crawfish Festival - April 4-6, 2014
The Pearland Crawfish Festival, located at Highway 288 at Discovery Bay and Business Center Drive in Pearland (map and directions),  boils up tons of delicious, spicy crawfish, a world of great food, lively music, vendors, games, and more in the friendly, relaxed fun and community feel of a small town fair and serves it up big. There'll be serving hot, fresh crawfish throughout the festival, along with the best of EatingCajun dishes and classic festival fare. Swamp Shack Catering, professional, world-class boilers, are bringing in the best farm-raised Crawfish the Gulf Coast at a great price.

The area's best Zydeco bands provide infectious rhythms where the Bayou meets the Bay, and The Houston Blues Society will bring in the blues. There will be crawfish eating contests, vendors of gifts, arts and crafts and more. A Children's Area and a professional, world-class carnival will provide professional rides and plenty of activities and fun for kids.
This family-oriented event will benefit Pearland Education Foundation, Alvin Education Foundation, Fort Bend Education Foundation, Ft. Bend Youth Sports and the Houston Blues Society.

Earth Day 2014 - April 12, 2014
Houston's ninth annual, one-day eco-celebration at Discovery Green (map), focuses on the merits of mindful, sustainable living while educating and encouraging Houstonians to preserve, conserve and enhance our city and the Earth.  Developed by Air Alliance Houston, Earth Day Houston is a showcase of everything green in the city with more than 50 green nonprofits participating.

The city's largest Earth Day celebration will feature a day of entertainment for more than 15,000 patrons. Earth Day Houston features family-friendly entertainment on the BBVA Compass Kids' Stage; environmental education zones on Air, Land, Water, Sustainability, Healthy Living, and Wildlife and Habitat; a Green Expo and HealthCorps with local fare and green products and services.
New this year! The Air Alliance Houston Stage will feature local musicians all day! The line-up includes: Lost Element, Hounds of Jezebel, Jesse Roach of 2014 American Idol Fame, La Sien, Another Run & Heather Rayleen.
