Celtic Open Photos & Future of Michael Davitt Open

celtic_open_sm

Look here for your favorite golfer in yesterday's tournament that benefited Houston's St Patrick's Day Parade & the Ronald McDonald House.

As a point of clarification: Through 2011, the St Patrick's Parade Commission had sponsored & benefited from a tournament called the "Michael Davitt Irish Open".

Unfortunately, due to rising costs & some diminished entries, the 2010 & 2011 tournaments were money LOSERS. Individuals on the parade commission shared those losses personally rather than reduce the parade's operating funds. Because of that, plans for the 2012 were tentative.

FortunatelyBrian O'Neills & the Goose's Acre Pubs volunteered to make the Parade a beneficiary of their Celtic tournament.  The Parade agreed to accept their kind offer. The Celtic Open took over the date & golf course which the Parade Commission had reserved in advance.

However, the Michael Davitt Open was NOT renamed the Celtic Open. The Parade Commission plans to continue the Michael Davitt Open.  In the spring there will be a Michael Davitt Open golf event (not to raise money), but to honor Michael's memory and have a good time.

We will share that with you as soon as we find out.
