August 2012 Newsletter Dear Friends: The last couple months have been very busy with my tour to Ireland, plenty of Children's performances and some unexpected travel. I hope you are having a wonderful summer with family and friends! I wanted to take a few minutes to update you on some of the exciting things that will be happening the rest of this year and next. In June, my friend, Norrie Arnott, passed away unexpectedly. In 1974, Norrie joined Patrick and me and we became the first Irish/Scottish folk group to reside in Washington DC. The group later became the Celtic Folk. Norrie was one of the few people that I know who was so steeped in Scottish folklore. We created a very unique sound which you can hear on our album that we debuted in 1975, "Shamrocks and Heather". Norrie will be sorely missed! My brother Patrick and I joined other folk singers to participate in a celebration of Norrie's life on Sunday, July 22nd, 3pm at Pat Troy's Ireland's Own in Alexandria, VA - it was wonderful to see many friends from the old days in DC and to be a part of honoring Norrie's life.
