Irish Aires

Many thanks to all who came out to a fantastic evening at Waldo's last Saturday!  We had a great time, but the fun isn't over yet!  Here are some upcoming  CB performances for your pleasure:

·         TOMORROW Saturday February 11, 2012 at Noon it's the Rory Miggins Memorial Irish Stew Cook-Off INSIDE at Lucky's Pub 801 St Emanuel St, Houston, TX 77003. This is a huge, all-day shindig to raise money for a number of worthy causes including the Houston St. Patrick's Day Parade and KPFT. Live music and dance, food and "more fun than you can shake a shillelagh at!" There is an outside stage and an inside stage with continuous entertainment from noon to 6pm, including Blaggards, Murder the Stout, Tomfooligans, The Jig Is Up, Dead Rabbits and much more! We're pleased to be asked to kick things off at the inside stage at NOON. $10 adults; 12 and under FREE.

·         Saturday February 18, 2012 from 6-9pm Constant Billy will perform at Dulce, 6734 Westheimer Lakes Dr., Katy TX 77494-5712 (just off the Westpark tollway) call (281) 394-7772. Dulce is a small café attached to a bakery and has live music early on Friday and Saturday evenings. Our palMike Roberts who plays his brand of pop acoustic Americana at Dulce every Friday from 7-10 has turned us on to this great new spot. Check out Dulce's Facebook page and feel free to lust after their pastries, cakes and cupcakes (some of it gluten-free!) Then come out and chomp some down to the music of Constant Billy! No cover.

·         Sunday February 19, 2012 time to be announced, Constant Billy will perform at Griff's Shenanigans Cafe & Bar, 3416 Roseland Street Houston, TX 77006-4307 (713) 528-9912. Houston Celtic Diva Dianna Shipman has organized this Memorial Wake for the much-lamented singer Richard E. McGinty, former musical director of Celtic Chorus of Houston. Like any good Irish wake, there will be music and fun, and also tributes to the Great Man himself. 

We also hope to raise funds for the very expensive medical care for Richard E.'s son Richard D. who is currently recovering from a serious auto accident. Both Richard McGintys have contributed mightily to the Houston Irish community in many ways over many years. We are honored to be asked to be a part of this wonderful event. We'll send out more details about plans and performers as they become available.

·         Saturday February 25, 2012 from 6-7pm Emily & Bill host the "Irish Aires" radio show at Houston's KPFT 90.1FM. Fearsome good music.

·         Sunday February 26 2012 from 3:30-4:30pm Constant Billy will perform at MD Anderson's Rotary House. This is a special performance for patients, their families, and any CB fans who drop by! No cover.
