North Texas Irish Festival (Celtic Music in Texas)
THIS WEEK'S CELTIC MUSIC HIGHLIGHT
is, of course, the North Texas Irish Festival, Feb. 29 –
Mar. 2.
Headliners include Altan, the Battlefield Band, the Brock
McGuire Band, Brother, the David Munnelly Band, Ed Miller,
the Matt & Shannon Heaton Band, Nollaig Casey & Arty
McGlynn, Seamus Kennedy, Shay & Michael Black, Town Pants,
Needfire, and Celtic Spring.
Some of the headliners will also be playing elsewhere about
Texas:
* The Brock McGuire Band will be in Houston (UST) Feb. 28 &
Austin (Cactus Cafe) Feb. 29.
* The Battlefield Band will be in Houston (Mucky Duck)
March 4.
Note: These mailings assembled by unpaid volunteers in a
sleep-deprivation experiment. All schedules subject to
change or perhaps even error. Send listings, preferably in
text-only format, to calendar@texcelt.org. The calendar
covers Monday to Monday (under normal circumstances) and is
mailed over the weekend (under normal circumstances).

Please bring a folding chair as seating is limited. Also,
bring some water or a non-alcoholic beverage to wet your
whistle. Please kindly observe the no-smoking policy for
the benefit of the singers.
Everyone who comes will have a chance to sing. Any song
that is Irish, Scottish, or otherwise Celtic will do. Songs
tend to be solo round-robin, but singalongs are great too;
bring lyrics to pass around if you'd like. A cappella
singing is preferred in the Irish tradition. Just bring
your voice. You may also bring a guitar or other
instrument if you prefer to accompany yourself.
