Irish Study Courses at University of St Thomas - Deadline 01/11/08

From: "Lori Gallagher" <> Dear Friends: Friday, Jan. 11, is the deadline for signing up for Irish Studies courses at the University of St. Thomas in Houston (without late registration penalty). Classes open on Jan. 14. Courses offered this spring are as follows: Irish Language Courses: Through the generosity of the Irish Government Department of Rural, Community and Gaeltacht Affairs, the Center for Irish Studies offers Irish language courses for credit and audit. The Irish Government provided The Center with a grant to promote the Irish language, which it is passing on to students through scholarships for Irish I credit- seeking students and free books for both credit and audit students. Irish I, Mondays, Wednesdays, 3:10 to 4:25 p.m. Irish II, Tuesdays, Thursdays, 3:35 to 4:50 p.m. Intermediate Irish, Tuesday, 5:30-8:15 p.m. Professor McInerney will teach Irish I, Irish II and Intermediate Irish. She is a graduate of University College Cork. Professor McInerney is Actively involved in the University life, through music and song. She is an Irish sean-nós singer and plays the fiddle and the piano. We also are offering two other interesting Irish Studies courses: Medieval Celtic Literature Dr. Kerry MacArthur, English Tuesdays, Thursdays, 2:10 to 3:25 p.m. Contemporary Irish Political and Social Issues Dr. John F.
