Austin, TX (512) 467-9898 7 PM Open to the public http://austincelts.org/ # Sunday, October 7, 2007 Celtic Song Session Things Celtic 1806 W. 35th Street (just east of Mopac, on the north side of the street) Austin, TX 512-472-CELT 2:30 - 5 PM The space is outdoors but sheltered (though sometimes we can sing inside). Please bring a folding chair as seating is limited. Also, bring some water or a non-alcoholic beverage to wet your whistle. Please kindly observe the no-smoking policy for the benefit of the singers. Everyone who comes will have a chance to sing. Any song that is Irish, Scottish, or otherwise Celtic will do. Songs tend to be solo round-robin, but singalongs are great too. A cappella singing is preferred in the Irish tradition. Just bring your voice. You may also bring a guitar or other instrument if you prefer to accompany yourself. http://www.austinsongsession.com/ ************************************************ EVENTS IN EAST TEXAS, MISSISSIPPI, AND LOUISIANA ************************************************ # Thursday, October 4, 2007 Legacy Fenian's Pub 901 East Fortification Street corner of Fortification and Jefferson Jackson, MS (601) 948-0055 http://www.legacyirishmusic.com/ Houston Highland Games Association meeting St. Thomas Episcopal School Auditorium 4900 Jackwood Houston, TX 281-558-5580 6:45 - 7:45 PM board meeting 8 PM general membership meeting http://houstonhighlandgames.com/ # Friday, October 5, 2007 Needfire Red River Revel Arts Fest Shreveport, LA http://needfire.com/ # Saturday & Sunday, October 6-7, 2007 Royal Scottish Country Dance Society Workshop and Ball (an event for advanced Scottish country dancers) Houston, TX Teacher: Marianna Harvey Live music provided by the Music Makars For information or to receive an application, contact Carol Palmer at 713-776-8531 http://www.houstonrscds.com/houstonrscds.htm Northeast Louisiana Celtic Festival Louisiana Purchase Zoo Monroe, LA http://www.nelacelticfest.org/ # Sunday, October 7, 2007 House Concert Constant Billy and one-woman show "She Moved Through the Fair" Houston, TX 7:30 - 9:30 PM $15 http://www.constantbilly.com/ # Monday, October 8, 2007 Highlands and Islands social & business meetings Look Out (function room upstairs) Hwy 49, North of 1-10, near K-Mart Gulfport, MS 6 PM social 6:30 PM meeting http://www.highlandsandislands.org/ ********************************************** EVENTS IN NORTH TEXAS, OKLAHOMA, AND ARKANSAS ********************************************** # Tuesday, October 2, 2007 Brothers 3 Courthouse Jam 8.0 Restaurant Fort Worth, TX (817) 492-4673 9 PM (event runs 5 - 10 PM) Benefit for Santa Fe Adolescent Services http://www.brothers3.us/ http://www.santafeyouth.org/ The O'Bobs Pearl Pearl @ Commerce Dallas, TX 7 - 11 PM # Wednesday, October 3, 2007 Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas Midwestern State University Akin Auditorium Wichita Falls, TX 7 PM 940-397-4291 http://www.alasdairfraser.com/ # Friday, October 5, 2007 Celtic Session Borders Books & Music 300 Norman Center Court Norman, OK 405/573-7907 8 - 10 PM For information, please contact Jacque Rapp at 405-364-4526. # Friday & Saturday, October 5-6, 2007 Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival Land Run Stage Noble Ave. (Hwy. 33) Guthrie, OK Friday stage set 2 PM Saturday fiddle workshop 10 AM Saturday stage set 1 PM Festival tickets: 3-day pass $65 by Oct. 4, $80 after Oct. 4 Friday only: $27.50 by Oct. 4, $35 after Oct. 4 Saturday only: $30 by Oct. 4, $35 after Oct. 4 http://www.alasdairfraser.com/ http://oibf.com/ # Saturday, October 6, 2007 Irish Rogues singalong Trinity Hall Irish Pub and Restaurant 5321 East Mockingbird Lane #250 Dallas, TX 214-887-3600 9 PM http://www.irishrogues.com/ Trinity River Whalers Main Street Theater 107 N.
