It is done in lines of couples, women facing, or contra, men. A caller directs the dance; teaching each dance as it starts. No extra lessons are required. Contra dance is easy, free, and flirtatious. Contra dance is moving, active, aerobic exercise, so wear comfortable clothing like tee shirts, shorts, skirts, and tennis or dance shoes. If you can walk and follow directions, you can contra.
