*). We danced: The Clydebank Strathspey, Corn Rigs, Crabbit
Shona, The Glen,*Glasgow Country Dance, *Tribute to the Borders,
*Sugar Candie and *Deil Amang the Tailors.
WELCOME to JENNIFER HAWK who danced with us for the first time
this evening and was invited by VALERYE BULL.
* PARTY TIME!
** JULY 17 - PARTY IN HONOR OF BARBARA DOWNIE! Barbara has been
very generous in playing for our dancing, demos and other events
and now that most of her time is in Scotland we want to have a
special day in her honor! The party is a brunch on Sunday, July
17, starting at 11:30 am at the home of Ed & Carol Young. If you
want to be included in the guest list, let me know at
diannashipman@att.net and I'll send you directions, etc. We do
need RSVP's so we'll know how many to plan for - everyone (except
our guest of honor :-) is asked to bring a food or beverage item
to share. Carol Young is making strawberry/spinach salad,
marinated tomatoes, Italian lemon soda, herbal water, and ice
tea. It would be helpful for those people RSVP'ing to let us
know what they are bringing. More info about Barbara at:
http://home.att.net/~ceilidhmusic/Downie.html
** AUGUST 20 - our ranch party in Simonton will be from
approximately 4 to 10 pm with dinner at 6 pm - potluck -
everyone brings something - the event is entirely outdoors so
take that into account in planning clothing, food and activities.
RSVPs required - let me know if you want to be on the list; email
me at diannashipman@att.net.
** SEPTEMBER 17 - dance party at St. Andrews' Episcopal Church
in the Heights. I'm in the process of making up the dance list
so let me know of any requests. Time from 7 to 10 pm.
** OCTOBER 29 - Our Mystery in Scotland party this year has a
Harry Potter theme; with Hogwarts is in Scotland the mystery will
include the "Hogwarts Highland Games"; we're busy making plans
so it should be fun - mark your calendar for an unique way to
celebrate Halloween as well. Email me if you want to be on the
guest list! [Valerye suggested going as a group in November to
see the new Harry Potter movie so we'll keep that in mind too.]
