Check out the organization at: http://www.iauc.org/index3.htm Their introduction on the web site says: The IRISH AMERICAN UNITY CONFERENCE is a nationwide, nonpartisan, nonsectarian, chapter-based human rights organization working for justice and peace in Ireland. We are a wholly American 501c(4) organization which advocates the end of British colonial occupation and the peaceful reunification of Ireland. We endeavor to achieve these goals by working through the American democratic process. Individually, our members represent every occupational and educational stratum in the United States. Membership is open to anyone who shares our views. Mission Statement THE MISSION of the IRISH AMERICAN UNITY CONFERENCE is to bring all Irish, Irish Americans and others together on the basis of their common belief in Justice and Peace in a reunited Ireland. We acknowledge and accede to ! the right of all the Irish people to self-determination and are fully confident that given the opportunity, they will choose to live, respectful of the human and civil rights of all, in a sovereign and independent nation free of domination by Britain. I know that many of you are familiar with the IAUC. Jim Delaney, the first president of the National board was a Texan and a friend of mine who lives in San Antonio. Jim, still a member of the national board, was very active in the AOH in Texas. I am working with the national board with their Press Releases. Members of the national board are very interested in the formation of a Houston chapter. While raising money is part of any socially conscious group, the prime focus of the IAUC is human rights, education and the unity of Irish people. All money raised by the IAUC stays in the United States. Our meeting will be on Saturday, Jan 29, 2005 at 04:00 PM at Mr. C’s #2. 9733 Katy Freeway (at Bunker Hill), Housto! n, Texas 77024 (713) 465-4919 WE WILL ALSO DISCUSS THE POSSIBLE VISIT OF THE MARTIN McGUINNESS to Houston at this meeting. We had previously scheduled that meeting at KPFT. However, this is a better location & they serve adult beverages. Go out I10 (Katy Freeway). Get off at Bunker Hill; turn south (left is you are heading out of town on I10 or right if you are heading into town). Turn right just BEFORE the "Specs" sign. Go to the parking lot behind the shopping center on your left. You should see a sign for Mr. C's after you park. Walk thru the breeze way to Mr. C's II. If you have problems call me at 713-828-8743. I hope that you will all take a little time to become a little more familiar with the IAUC and those of you who think that you would be interested, will join us to discuss our formation of a chapter in Houston.
