Well done! Special thank you to Susan Kelm for being our chauffeur with her van, to Susan and Ed Fuller for fixing lunch Saturday and to Mitch Philpot for general suggestions, including Miller's Landing for seafood on the Seawall Saturday night. Bud Norton's tartan trews attracted favorable attention and were made by Susan Kelm. A special thank you to LARS SLOAN & LISA SANFORD of AMERICAN BAGPIPES for inviting us to join them! LARS as always was great on the bagpipes, as were his fellow musicians who joined in from time to time. Our "dancing in the street" was well received (see photo on website). Miracle of miracles - we didn't get rained on during our dancing - the whole weekend worked out OK on weather with only one small shower on Sunday afternoon - amazing after the dire predictions. Mitch Philpot's impromptu dance with the "saloon girls" in front of Connolly's Pub was a hit; our men in kilts were often asked to pose for photos. We were able to get audience participaton for our Sunday shows. Marilyn Johnson enjoyed the architectural tour. We ran into Peggy Carter who was playing hammered dulcimer along with some of her Strings & Things musicians. Donal Hinely on the "ghost fiddle" (ie playing on glasses of various sizes filled with various amounts of water) entranced audiences. Activities at the Elyssa included sea shanties, tours of the ship, and a falconry/bird show (which included a horned owl, Harris hawk, peregrin falcon and condor); however, the seagulls were not amused - they headed south right away! Watching the crew in the ship's rigging 50 ft up was quite a sight. Sunday evening we checked out the Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens, which was a nice way to finish up the weekend. Photos on the website - front page (Dancing Blue Bonnets to a crowd - Lars Sloan piping in the background) and under Member tab individual photos. ************* FT.
