12/25/04 - Celtic Performers Needed

PERFORMERS NEEDED FOR CELTIC CONCERTS 2005: We have a monthly Celtic Concert at the Knights of Columbus near downtown Houston -we ask for donations from those attending which goes to the performers. This year we've moved to one Sunday afternoon a month (2-6 pm) and hope to also make it a "ceilidh" with somewhat of an "open mike" and some dancing. We're presently looking for those interested in performing on: January 16 February 27 Gathering of the Celts Rovers Return (confirmed) Lars Sloan, American Bagpipes (tentative) March 20 April 10 May 22 June 12 July 17 August 21 September 18 October 16 November 13 December 11 If you're interested or know of anyone who might be, let me know at diannashipman@att.net or 713 522 1212. The idea is to feature traditional Celtic music in an acoustic or low volume setting. (as yet we don't have a permanent sound system for the rooms - some performers have brought their own and many have performed acoustically; however, we hope to add a permanent sound system in 2005). In 2005 we plan to hold these in the Main Room, with a capacity of around 300. We want to encourage new talent and in general provide more opportunities for Celtic performers in Houston and surrounding areas, as well as build a sense of community.
