Gregory J Gallagher, RIP

Greg Gallagher, former AOH member and Irish Society member, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014. Surely to be leading the singing in Heaven with his 'Irish Song Sheets'. Greg Gallagher was one of the finest Irishmen to ever March in the Houston St. Patrick's Day Parade. He did not make us better singers, but he did make us sing! We, the Irish Society Marchers, carry on his Irish song singing tradition during the Parade. Please march with us this year and sing a few tunes for Greg Gallagher.

In Memory of

Gregory J Gallagher

Obituary

Gregory James Gallagher, 89, passed away on February 3, 2014.

Never could a person walk by without Greg smiling and asking, "How are you?" Never could he pass a downtrodden soul without giving to them. Generous does not seem adequate to describe this man. Greg was an exercise enthusiast. Whether playing basketball or tennis, sports were a part of his daily life until the day he died. Always dedicated to God, he especially loved his family and friends.

Greg is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Ann Bennett Gallagher, three siblings: Mary Herndon, Natalie Carol Pope, Charleen Knieriem, his nine children and their spouses: Katrina Cooper, Gregory C. and Carley Gallagher, Michael and Natasha Gallagher, Dick and Margy Price, Charles and Carol Gallagher, Matthew Gallagher, William and Kathryn Tamminga, Mark Gallagher, and Sean Gallagher, seventeen grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by first spouse, Bernita Gallagher, parents, Charles and Marguerite Gallagher, brother, Charles R. Gallagher II, and sister, Sr. Eymard Gallagher, RHSM.

Greg graduated from the Naval Officer Training Program at Marquette University in Mechanical Engineering. After his tour of duty he took post graduate courses in petroleum engineering, which he applied in oil exploration throughout his life.

The visitation will be at Earthman Funeral Home Hunter's Creek, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas on Sunday, February 9, 2013 from 4:00-5:00 with the Rosary at 5 p.m. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., February 10, 2014 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road, Houston, Texas.
