The Great Irish Famine was one of the most devastating humanitarian disasters of the nineteenth century. In a period of only five years, Ireland lost approximately one-quarter of her population through a combination of death and emigration.
A lesser-known aspect of the Famine is the extent to which people throughout the world mobilized to provide money, food and clothing to assist the starving Irish.  Many donors had no connection with Ireland; yet, without the kindness of these strangers, many, many more lives would have been lost.

*02/22/14 - Celtic Nights will be performed at Brazosport College in Lake Jackson

Celtic Nights will be performed at The Clarion Theater at Brazosport College in Lake Jackson in Brazoria County on Sat, Feb 22 at 7:30pm.

02/22/2014      Celtic Nights  7:30pm           $35
http://www.brazosport.edu/Clarion/Pages/Upcoming-Events.aspx

Celtic Nights, a two hour showcase, of the rich heritage of the island and its culture, will bring us to that place that many emigrants now call home. The United States of America is where people from all lands have been welcomed through Ellis Island and the now adjoining Airports of New York City and beyond. The show mirrors the journey that these emigrants took, and all the emotions that go along with it.

Six of Irelands most accomplished dancers mirror six of its finest voices to present a spell-binding and exhilarating picture of a proud people and their passion.

Celtic Nights will capture the essence of a great people from a small Island and their journey of hope and desire.

This cross-generational show shares the culture of Irish emigrants in America.
