In Memoriam
Burke Eugene Michael O'Rourke '45

Dear members of the St. Thomas Community,

We learned yesterday of the passing of Burke O'Rourke, brother of the late William J. '37 and the late Bobby O'Rourke '41, nephew of the late Reverend Thomas P. O'Rourke, C.S.B., Principal of St. Thomas 1927-1931, brother-in-law of the late Charles A. Gremillion '43, Adolph "Bubba" Pfeffer '49, Edwin D. McCrory, Jr. '53 and Lawrence W. Sauer, Jr. '63, and uncle of Michael J. '69 and Kevin P. O'Rourke '70, Rock W. '75, John G. '78, Roger R. '79 and Patrick G. Gremillion '82, and Edwin D. McCrory III '77, and great uncle of Rock W. Gremillion, Jr. '02 and Clayton D. McCrory '15, and wanted to share this news with his St. Thomas High School classmates and friends.

Burke was inducted into the St. Thomas Sports Hall of Fame in 2002, and is a former St. Thomas Foundation Board Member. The inaugural issue of the Aquin had this to say regarding Burke: "Quiet and popular, Burke is a prominent member in our senior class. He was manager of the senior football team this year, and he has played basketball, baseball, hockey, softball and tennis. A four year minstrel man, a lieutenant in the C.A.P.C. (Civil Air Patrol Corps) and a frequent communicant, he is another fine example of a St. Thomas boy."

The entire St. Thomas community is saddened by his loss, and we ask that you join us in keeping Burke and his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Vigil at 7:00 pm at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer Road. For the full obituary in the Houston Chronicle click here.

Sincerely,

Willie Madden '82, DIrector of Alumni Relations
