"We are pleased to host our third international rugby match at BBVA Compass Stadium and welcome the U.S. Men's National Team back to Houston," said BBVA Compass Stadium general manager Doug Hall.  "It is our goal to provide rugby fans, as well as the teams, with a unique and memorable experience including a pre-game fan fest for this game.  Houston has proven that it's fast becoming a rugby town and we are thrilled to be a part of that growth and development."

Houston, Texas 77008

We are one of Houston's most popular Celtic bands. Our mission is simple: "Give our audience a cracking good time, one that they will talk about for weeks." We do it by taking you for a ride on an emotional roller coaster traveling through time to visit the four corners of the Celtic world. We entertain you with toe tapping jigs and reels and rock you with mighty ballads that tell of times and events long past. We will throw in a few funny stories and some banter along the way, just for good measure. We invite you to come along and spend an evening with us; you will not regret it nor forget it. To contact us via e-mail use "celticvoyage@hotmail.com"

Influences:
Too many to name really but here are a few. The Fureys; The Dubliners; The Clancys; Silly Wizard; Steeleye Span; Ladysmith; Pogues; Wolftones; Battlefield Band; Old Blind Dogs etc. Paxton; McTell; Gibson; Lightfoot ...the list goes on and on.

-07/12/13 - Clandestine at the Mucky Duck

Clandestine
July 12 7:30 PM
Advance Tickets:  $20.00
Ticket price at the door: $22.00

Clandestine is hard-driving, toe-tapping Texas Celtic sound. They re-formed in 2006 after a four-year break, with the same brand of blasting tune sets and new songs. Al Cofrin, the newest member, brings cittern and another set of bagpipes to the mix.

Percussionist and singer Emily Dugas captivates with her original song collaborations with Al, as well as her singular interpretations of songs in the Celtic genre.

Piper EJ Jones and fiddler Gregory McQueen return with the full force of their individual musical energies. EJ and Al also join Emily on vocals, with many songs now set in three-part harmony.

Once again, Clandestine is a regular feature at the Texas Scottish Festival and the North Texas Irish Festival, as well as their home pub, McGonigel's Mucky Duck in Houston.

*07/20/13 - Wood and Wire at the Mucky Duck

730 PM

Advance Tickets:  $20.00
Ticket price at the door: $22.00

Wood & Wire features Matt Slusher on mandolin, Tony Kamel on guitar, Trevor Smith on Banjo, and Dom Fisher on bass. When the original trio got together in the fall of 2011, things started happening quickly.

From the very beginning, their chemistry made collaborating easy, and they practiced relentlessly as they built their sound. Focusing hard on three-part harmonies, thought-out arrangements, and some hard-driving pickin', all of which is anchored by Dom's solid bass playing.

Old tunes that Slush and Tony had written in the past were given new life, and the group's collective energy created inspiration for new songs along the way. Trevor started jamming and performing with the trio in December 2011 and officially joined the band in March 2012, adding a whole new element to the quartet.

Blaggards will be there 22nd from 2-4PM.  Other groups to be announced later

The Sherwood Celtic Music Festival is a celebration of Celtic music, history and heritage.  Our particular event does not focus on a specific time period; rather, we celebrate the entire arc of Celtic history from ancient times to the present.

With over 20 bands playing Celtic-influenced music (traditional and modern), our very own Highland Games and many crafters here to show you their goods, we've got plenty to keep you busy during this high-energy event!  In addition to the above we offer dancing competitions, bagpipe competitions, harp circles and even a trivia challenge.  Many local chapters of Clans will be present in order to share their histories with you as well.

We hope you enjoy all we have in store for you at this 3rd Annual Sherwood Celtic Music Festival!
