Houston Celtic Festival April 27 & 28th 2013

Houston Highland Games

Twenty acts, two days, three stages, one big Celtic party!

The Houston Celtic Festival presents two days of festivities, music and fun as only the Celts can on April 27 & 28. Enjoy the food, music, dance, and culture of Scotland, Ireland, Wales and Galicia.

The Houston Celtic Festival and Highland Games is back with an outstanding lineup of entertainment on April 27 & 28, 2013 at the Houston Farm and Ranch Club, near Bear Creek Park. Festival management can't promise cooler weather than the previous mid-May dates, but chances are better you won't be be sweating as much in your wool tartan in April.

Crowd favorites Jiggernaut and Clandestine will rock the McAnelly Stage along with more traditional and mellow Celtic sounds of Brian McNeill, Jil Chambless and Scooter Muse and Ed Miller. The Ceilidh Stage will showcase the best of local and regional talent, including newcomers to the Festival, Flashpoint.

New this year is the Children's Stage where the Celtic Festival's resident Faerie, Willow, and her Giant, along with Rickey Pittman, will entertain with songs and stories especially crafted for the wee ones.

Children will also embark on a journey visiting our clan and societies exhibitors for stamps in their Celtic Passports. At the end of their journey there will be a special gift from Walkers Shortbread.

Also joining us this year are the Scottish Fling characters from the Texas Renaissance Festival, Texas Coritani, and Brigadoon Scottish Brewery.

All the traditional elements of a Celtic Festival will be yours to enjoy, including Scottish Heavy Athletic competition, pipe bands, Celtic dancing, children's games and arts and crafts, eateries, shortbread and bonniest knees competition, and historical exhibitions. Worships will include brewing, genealogy, Robert Burns and a special writers workshop with Rickey Pittman.

The festival is brought to you by the Houston Highland Games Association, a 501 (c) 3 organization. The rain or shine Festival hours are 9 am to 7 pm Saturday and 10 am to 6 pm Sunday. Tickets are $10-15 for adults and $5 for children 12 to 6. Children under 6 get in free. Parking is free. Sorry, no animals unless they are part of a registered exhibit or assistance animals.
