From: Sterling Dafydd <sterlingdafydd@gmail.com>
Date: Fri, May 6, 2011 at 8:28 AM
Subject: Welsh Class/Dosbarth Cymraeg

Have you ever traveled to Wales??  Were you confused with all the bilingual signs with all those consonants??  Did you hear people speaking the 'old language' and wished you could understand just a little bit???  Do you plan to travel to the land of the bards...the land of song...the land of castles???

Well now is your chance to  come and struggle with other learners as we explore basic Welsh.  The Welsh Language Lover's Society meets weekly in the Heights on Sunday afternoons.

We are recruiting new students to study this fascinating language...one of the oldest in Europe.  We use a combination of books with a video course, and the cost is free.....remember free is a very good price!!!

So whether you want to learn because it's your heritage, or because you want to be a part of one of the most successful language revivals in the past 100yrs, or just because you're curious, please consider joining our group....for more information please email me at
sterlingdafydd@gmail.com  or phone me at 832-794-7274

In case you missed our 1916 Uprising show, I found the whole recording the album on YouTube (
Click here). Our links for lyrics & other interesting stuff regarding this show can be found at Part 1 and Part 2.

We are going to Ireland on May 25th & we might get a little behind in our current events this summer.  Another good source to check is
Dianna Shipman's Calendar of events

Clandestine is hard-driving, toe-tapping Texas Celtic sound. They re-formed in 2006 after a four-year break, with the same brand of blasting tune sets and new songs. Al Cofrin, the newest member, brings cittern and another set of bagpipes to the mix.

Percussionist and singer Emily Dugas captivates with her original song collaborations with Al, as well as her singular interpretations of songs in the Celtic genre.

Band of Heathens
November 23
930 PM
Advance Tickets: SeatingStanding $20.00
Ticket price at the door: $22.00

"If you still haven't caught up with this group yet then why not? They are magnificent live in concert, and [One Foot in the Ether] proves that they are just as excellent in the studio . . . I could carry on raving about every track on the album, but instead I will just highly recommend that you go out and buy this fantastic album.

Also make sure you try and get to see these guys in concert as soon as you can." —MAVERICK ". . . what makes these Heathens so refreshingly different is the overall musicianship and seamless blending of alt-rockers, folk tales, gutbucket blues and heartland anthems."—CHICAGO SUN-TIMES

"The Band of Heathens, an Austin-based group, played the best set I came across during my five nights in town (at SXSW 2009)."—THE WALL STREET JOURNAL

"One Foot in the Ether is sure to reinforce the band's place in the Austin music scene . . . ready-made for sitting on the back porch with a cold beer, a rock 'n' soul affair evocative of Little Feat, The Band and The Black Crowes."—AUSTIN-AMERICAN STATESMAN

Austin's Band of Heathens is a supergroup of sorts — frontmen Ed Jurdi, Gordy Quist and Colin Brooks all worked as solo artists before falling into a partnership three years ago. But this is no battle of egos: All three write together, and trade off lead vocals as if passing a bottle of wine around a campfire.

One Foot in the Ether bears the musical influences of forbears like the Band and the Black Crowes while embodying timeless lyrical themes of salvation and sin. Bass player Seth Whitney and drummer John Chipman make for a sympathetic rhythm section, keeping the trio of equally matched talents upfront tied together seamlessly. —COUNTRY WEEKLY
