Martin Cullen, TD Visits Houston for St Patrick's Events

Martin Cullen was born in Waterford in 1954. He was educated at Waterpark College and the Regional Technical College , (now Waterford Institute of Technology), Waterford . His early business career was in marketing in Ireland and later abroad. Later in his business career, he was appointed Chief Executive of Ireland’s Federation of Transport Operators. Martin Cullen was Mayor of Waterford in 1993/94 - a position previously held by this father and grandfather.
Martin Cullen was appointed Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism on 7 May 2008 by Taoiseach Brian Cowen TD, having served as Minister for Social and Family Affairs from 14 June 2007 (to 7 May 2008). He was Minister for Transport from 29 September 2004 to 14 June 2007. He was also Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government (June 2002 – September 2004). He held the position of Minister of State at the Department of Finance and the Office of Public Works from June 1997 to June 2002.

1991-1997 Member of Waterford City Council

Former Director, Waterford Economic Development Board and South East Regional Tourism Organisation Martin Cullen TD was first elected to the Dáil as a Progressive Democrat TD in 1987. During the 27th Dáil he joined Fianna Fáil.
