Irish Aires Needs Your Support

It is that time of the year again. We need to ask for your help so that the station can pay for necessary expenses to stay on the air and to continue to try to bring quality programming & information to Houston & the world (thru the internet). For you long time email subscribers, I know that these pleas for help are not your favorite emails (they are not mine!). Three or four times a year we need to interrupt our normal procedures and WORK to pay for our expenses. However, think of it this way: most people spend 40+ hours A week WORKING for their expenses. The Irish Aires show only asks for your support 4 times a year. For you new subscribers, let me fill you in on the economics of the IRISH AIRES (IA) world. We are completely non-profit and non-commercial. ALL the work done on behalf of Irish Aires is done by unpaid volunteers. KPFT is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization who does not solicit or take corporate sponsorship money (except through “Employee Match” programs). Therefore, some 90% of our funding comes from individual contributions which average about $60 a piece. The other 10% comes from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (aka the US government). Without YOUR support we could not make it. IA is devoted to promoting Irish & Celtic culture. Let me give you a list of what that entails: BROADCASTS: Weekly local broadcasts of the Irish Aires radio show (Saturdays 6:00-7:00PM Central Time in the US – Midnight to 1PM in Ireland on 90.1FM in Houston & 98.5FM in Galveston) and live on the internet OR archived prior shows on the internet.
