"The Irish Harp: its History, Repertoire and Role in Irish Society"

The performance is free and open to the public. No RSVP required; no
tickets sold or reserved; first come, first-served.
Come hear award-winning Irish harpist Máire Ni Chatasaigh perform and
provide insight into the history and role of the harp in Irish
history! Máire will play examples of Irish harp music from four
centuries and will discuss the changing role and repertoire of the
harp in present-day Ireland. She is considered the most influential
player of the instrument in modern times. Her visit to Houston is part
of the Distinguished Irish Studies Cultural Series and is sponsored by
Sally and Bill Slick and the Irish American Cultural Institute.
