Patrick T. Sharkey
Patrick T. Sharkey is a real estate lawyer & partner with the
Jackson Walker Law Firm. Pat was born in Cincinnati, Ohio
and raised in Dayton, Ohio. He received his undergraduate
degree in Political Science from Columbia University in
1973 and his law degree from Case Western Reserve
University School of Law in 1976. He and his wife, Mary,
moved to Houston immediately following his graduation
from law school.
Pat has been actively involved in the Houston Irish
community for 20 years. He has served as president of the
Sam Houston division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians
since 1984. In this capacity, he had the privilege of hosting
the annual St. Patrick’s luncheon at the Houston Club for
many years. Since its incorporation in October, 1999, Pat has
served on the board of directors and as corporate secretary of
The Irish society. He now serves as the president of The
Irish Society.
Pat and Mary are the proud parents of three children, Shawn,
Amy and Callie. As with most Irishmen, Pat enjoys an
occasional pint of adult beverage and he talks a better golf
game than he plays. Pat has been a loyal supporter of the St.
Paddy’s Irish open and has played in the golf tournament
since the beginning. Pat yearns to take Mary and their
children back to Ireland to visit their family roots in County
Cork.

Why do you think that the parade gets little or NO coverage from any of the Houston TV stations or the Chronical?
I believe it gets little or no coverage because it is not a commerically sponsored parade (nor does it have any big money backers).
It is supported by members of the Irish community who put in $100 each + some very modest corporate sponsorship.
