BARBARA DOWNIE writes in part on Nov. 8: "By the way, I meant to email you last week when I read about your Harry Potter party, since Bob and I had our own "Harry Potter experience!" Bob was here visiting in October and we went down to the NE of England (from Berwick-upon- Tweed and down the coast; very beautiful, with castles along the way). We had a fantastic day in Alnwick (pronounced Annick) and went to the lovely gardens and the castle, which is the castle they used as Hogwarts!! It is situated in gorgeous countryside, and the staterooms are lovely. It is the home of the Duke of Northumberland and looks like a proper castle! We also went to Durham to see the Cathedral, where apparently the Great Hall scenes were filmed for HP. (It was all coincidence...we weren't visiting all the locations on purpose....really!) The orchestra had its 70th birthday party last Saturday, and we had a really fun ceilidh!" COME DANCE WITH US! I've been really enjoying the research and love the music. I sold two of the CW songs to a film that will be out next year (about the KS and MO border wars - a PBS/History Channel film). So I've recorded those two already. I haven't recorded any of the Scottish stuff yet - but will begin by summer."
