Clear Lake Celtic Festival Update
The 9th Annual Clear Lake Celtic Music Festival and Texas
State Championship Highland Games, benefiting International
Space School Foundation 501©3, St. Brendan's Project, and
KPFT Public Radio, will be held this Saturday, October 22,
Noon to 10PM at Clear Lake Park, Landolt Pavilion, NASA Rd 1.
This year, there will be seven live bands and three dance
acts performing at the pavilion. Also, we're very excited
to be hosting the Texas State Championship Highland Games
on the adjacent field. There are lots of crafts vendors
participating, including great food and drinks, so this
will be a really fun family event primarily benefiting
International Space School Foundation.
The International Space School Foundation 501C3 arranges
host families, prepares space educational events, and buys
airfare to bring up to forty high school students from as
many as sixteen foreign countries to visit the Johnson
Space Center each summer. The students are chosen by their
home schools and during their visit to JSC, they are
engaged in a space education camp and various cultural
activities. Many previous participants have chosen to
pursue educations in science in both their home countries
and the United States.
Admission to the festival is just $10; kids are free. We
hope you can make it out to support a great cause and have
a fun day of fantastic entertainment. Children especially
enjoy the dance acts which are scheduled to perform at 1:45
PM, 3:00 PM, and 6:15 PM.

Needfire
This five-piece Celtic-rock band from Dallas takes
traditional Celtic melodies and brings them into a modern
rock context with original lyrics and hard-hitting
performances. Bassist Ed Walewski, bagpiper/guitarist Jim
Folstad and award-winning singer/songwriter/guitarist John
Cleghorn (all formerly of The Killdares) have joined forces
with the energetic fiddling of Dylan Cleghorn and driving
percussion of Matt Henthorn to form NeedFire. Visit their
website for performance calendars and more information.
Blaggards
Patrick Devlin, Brian Vogel, Turi Hoiseth, and Chad Smalley
ganged up from Dublin, Boston, New York, and the Midwest to
create their own brew of Stout Irish Rock! A favorite at
the Clear Lake Celtic Fest. We're glad your back, Patrick!
Visit their website for more info!
Murder the Stout
Hugh Morrison rocks on his squeezebox! This five piece clan
is Houston's most up and coming talented and dynamic Celtic
act! Email them for more info or visit their website!
Clan Ceilidh
Traditional Welsh/English/Irish melodies played with
guitar, djembe, cello, and harmonica. This clan knows how
to have fun and welcome your participation for special
performances at Molly's Pub in Kemah. All proceeds donated
to the International Space School Foundation.
Constant Billy
Bill Galbraith and Emily Standish are traditional favorites
at the Clear Lake Celtic Music Festival! As they put it, in
a greatly understated phrase, "Music fom Britain and
Ireland shaken and stirred into a Rock, Swing, and
Classical cocktail." Visit their website!
Celtic Voyage
Grant and Sandy Dawson have joined up with Ian Gault and
Hector Carmona to play Irish, Welsh, and Aussie tunes
performed with outstanding vocals and incredible energy!
Bandella
Chris Hadfield, Micki Pettit, and Steve Robinson have come
together with acoustic and vocal talents producing an
experience of global proportion. Don't miss their opening
act!
McTeggart Irish Dancers of South Texas
Don't miss this! Superb precision Irish dance steps done in
marvelous and authentic traditional costumes. These kids
are great! Check their website!
Kennedy International Dancers
This incredible group performs Irish, Scottish, and Breton
folk dances with a 50-year age range among them! You'll be
delighted! For more information on performances, email CJ!
